Body & modalities
Body composition, recovery, systemic debloating, and the physical / environmental modalities (red light, cold, hyperbaric) that drive favourable hormetic adaptation across the whole system.
Targeted hypertrophy
The 2026 aesthetic frame for somatic optimisation centres on proportion over absolute mass — V-taper, mandibular definition through neck/upper-back development, posterior-chain volume. Foundational principles unchanged: progressive overload, ~0.8–1.0 g protein per lb body weight, sleep as the recovery primitive. The interesting frontier is what augments the training stimulus, not the training stimulus itself.
Protein & training stacks
| Product | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Whey+ | Whey isolate | Foundational post-training protein. |
| Casein+ | Slow-digesting protein | Overnight recovery. |
| Plant+ | Plant protein blend | Dairy-free alternative. |
| Legion Muscle Growth Stack | Bundled | Hypertrophy-focused. |
| Momentous Athletic Resilience Bundle | Bundled | Recovery + performance. |
| MuscleTech The OG Bundle | Bundled | Protein + pre-workout + recovery. |
Aesthetic / recovery micronutrients
Complements the daily stack on Supplements. The doc flags these as aesthetic-supportive but mostly missing from my current regimen.
| Compound | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Hydrolysed collagen peptides | Skin elasticity; amino-acid supply for dermal matrix. | Not in stack. |
| Oral hyaluronic acid | Systemic cellular hydration. | Not in stack. |
| Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) | Reduces systemic inflammation. Load-bearing absentee. | Highest-priority add. |
| Astaxanthin | Potent carotenoid antioxidant; skin tone, UV resilience. | Not in stack. |
| Creatine (monohydrate) | Muscle cell hydration + performance. Cognitive benefits too. | Not in stack. Cheap, well-evidenced. |
| Ashwagandha | Cortisol blunting → less water retention, improved sleep. | Not in stack. |
| Copper | Keratin structural integrity. | Not in stack. |
| Vitamin D3 + K2 | Bone density, hormonal synthesis. | In stack (see Supplements). |
| NAC | Glutathione precursor; clarity. | In stack (under-dosed). |
| Biotin | Keratin / follicle support. | In stack via Viviscal. |
| Zinc | DHT modulation, follicle integrity. | In stack via Viviscal. |
Systemic debloating
A 2026-doc concept: visible aesthetic outcomes depend less on body-fat % than on water retention, lymphatic drainage, and gut-driven inflammation. The protocol prioritises:
- Cortisol management — sleep, ashwagandha, training periodisation.
- Sodium / potassium balance — adequate potassium (already covered via potassium citrate + Vit C on Supplements).
- Gut motility & microbiome — fibre, fermented foods, plant diversity (ZOE / Daily30+, see Diagnostics).
- Lymphatic drainage — manual / dry-brushing / microcurrent (TheraFace Pro, see Interventions).
- Inflammation control — omega-3 (gap above), ginger, NAC at full dose.
Physical / environmental modalities
Photobiomodulation (red light)
| Parameter | Protocol |
|---|---|
| Frequency | 2–4 sessions per week. |
| Duration | 10–30 min per session (irradiance-dependent). |
| Proximity | 6–12 inches from target. |
| Timing | AM (circadian alignment) or immediately post-training (recovery, metabolic waste clearance). |
Mechanism: stimulates cytochrome c oxidase → ATP upregulation. Tissue repair, oxidative stress reduction, collagen density, endogenous testosterone synthesis (Leydig cell stimulation in men). Devices: see Interventions.
Cold exposure / cryotherapy
| Modality | Notes |
|---|---|
| Whole-body cryotherapy | −85°C chambers, brief exposures (1–3 min). Triggers norepinephrine release, lowers systemic inflammation, activates brown adipose tissue → increased metabolic rate, fat oxidation. |
| Cold plunge / shower | Lower-grade home version of the same. Norepinephrine spike, dopamine elevation lasting hours. |
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)
| Parameter | Notes |
|---|---|
| Mechanism | Pressurised O₂ chamber. Saturates plasma with oxygen, drives tissue oxygenation, angiogenesis, wound healing. |
| Notable | Studies suggest epigenetic-age reversal in some cohorts. Clinical-tier intervention; not at-home. |
UK access via specialist centres — Tranquil Waters Retreat (Nottinghamshire) and other longevity clinics on Diagnostics.
Body care products
| Product | Notes |
|---|---|
| NIVEA In-Shower Nourishing Lotion | Easy moisturising. Warning: drain buildup. |
| Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion | Best body results so far. Also useful in hair. |
| NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Oil | Multi-use. Polarising scent. |
| The Ordinary Sulphate 4% Cleanser | Fragrance-free SLES — scalp & body. |
| La Roche-Posay Anthelios Mist | Anti-shine. For arms / legs; scent fades fast. |
| Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Spray SPF70 | Go-to summer body sunscreen. |
Gaps & open items
- Omega-3 — single highest-leverage missing nutrient. Cheap, evidence-rich.
- Creatine monohydrate — cheap, useful for both hypertrophy and cognition.
- No red light setup — body-wide RLT panel pays back across recovery, skin, scalp, and testosterone.
- No cold-exposure habit — easiest: cold shower at end of normal shower. Cryo chambers are the clinical upgrade.
- No HBOT exposure — high-cost, high-impact. Worth one course at a UK longevity clinic to baseline the effect.
- No CGM to feed back debloating outcomes — see Diagnostics.
